About Wapato

Wapato Point on Lake Chelan has become one of Washington State's top visitor destinations. Sitting some 8 miles up from the town of Chelan, Wapato sits on a Peninsula that juts directly out into the water providing territorial views along with a long list of activities and amenities.

Consisting of 70 private vacation homes and 300 condos the resort has 2 miles of white sand beach, parks, tennis courts, boat docks, water skiing areas, numerous pools, hot tubs, volley ball and basketball, walking paths, designated swimming areas, restaurant and winery. Nearby is a casino, golf courses, agri-tours, horse back riding, chuck wagon dinners plus restaurants and shops galore. In winter there is cross country skiing, an ice skating rink and hundreds of miles of snow mobile trails.

Sunspots offers private homes, townhomes and condos at Wapato Point and around the entire Lake Chelan area.

Wapato is a rare treasure of the American West. Originally deeded to members of the Wapato family of the Entiat Indian Nation under Chief Moses Agreement in 1884, the family still owns the land and leases it to a private corporation for development. Located on the north side of the Lake about seven miles from the city of Chelan, this small peninsula of land is a nearly endless beehive of vacation activities summer and winter.

Because of mutual respect for the land, Wapato Point today is an amazing preserved 116 meticulously groomed acres that strongly supports environmental values. It offers visitors over 2 miles of unspoiled lakeside waterfront under sunny skies. The recreational choices available here are truly impressive, ranging from water slides to lighted tennis courts. There are facilities for basketball, baseball and soccer. Boats and bikes are available for rent as are fishing poles and cross country skis - even ice skates!

Located nearby is the Wapato Point Cellar, famous for its syrah and pinot grigio wines. The beautiful grounds of the winery are the site of many lovely summer weddings as well as memorable wine tastings and picnics.

Local events throughout the year include the Manson Apple Blossom Festival, the King Salmon Derby, the Classic Car Show, the Chelan Hang Glider Classic, the Lake Chelan Rodeo and the Fire & Ice Winterfest. From gourmet dinners featuring regional ingredients to games on the green grass, Wapato Point is an experience that can be described only as all the fun you can imagine. And then some!

About Lake Chelan

One of the most popular vacation destinations in all of Washington. The name Chelan comes from the Indian word Tsillian. It can mean deep water. This is actually the third deepest lake in the country, surrounded by rolling hills covered with apple trees and soaring mountains providing huge territorial views from all around the valley.

The weather is near perfect. Hot in summer. Cold in winter, warm and friendly in between. Over 300 days of sunshine per year thanks to the Lake's location sheltered from prevailing wind from by the Cascade Mountains immediately to the West. In short, Chelan is perfect all year round.

There is something for everyone year round in Chelan. Enjoy touring the wineries, boating, water skiing, hiking, biking, river rafting and much more. Don’t worry there is a plethora of winter sports as well so don’t feel like you can only come for the sun. Go snowmobiling, snowshoeing, or enjoy all kinds of skiing.

There are many different places to stay along the Lake from spacious vacation homes, to cozy condos. Come stay any time during any season and take in the sights, enjoy the activities. Or just kick back and relax on the water and watch the day go by.
